FAQ

How do I reduce basement noise in my Toronto home?

Basement noise often comes from footsteps, or people talking. To make your basement quieter, we install dense insulation and isolation layers. We offer tiered solutions, with the first being the least invasive and fastest without removing drywall. Your sound barrier will depend on how far you go.

Why didn't my last soundproofing or renovation stop the noise?

The short answer is incompetence. The long answer is, if you compare an acoustic assembly to a sandwich with many toppings, a high-end stacked sandwich will fill you up and be more satisfying than a fast food standard sandwich with low-quality meat and basic toppings.

Proper sound attenuation uses several layers of highly-rated acoustic products, like a fancy sandwich, each addressing different noise concerns. Many renovations miss key steps and fail to use acoustic-rated insulation, seal gaps, add sufficient mass, or sound isolation systems.

We fix failed soundproofing by rebuilding the parts that matter using high-rated acoustics products designed specifically for soundproofing.

How do I soundproof between floors in my home?

The secret lies in an airtight and 100% full cavity using dense fibre insulation (not foam). The goal is to increase mass without becoming too rigid, which is why choosing the right insulation matters, and acoustic ratings make the selection easy.

With our Tier #1 Dense Fill solution, you can reduce footsteps and talking between floors without removing drywall; or you can upgrade your assemblies with an additional suspension system and other upgrades to increase your sound barrier even further.

How do I soundproof a finished basement without removing drywall?

Upgrades can be done from the ceiling below. We use our specialized machine to pump dense-fill insulation with air pressure into your cavities behind your existing drywall by drilling holes and filling each cavity 100%.

The key to blocking most noises from traveling between floors with one acoustic product is airtightness, which can only be achieved by machine application.

Why can I hear every footstep from upstairs?

An empty wooden cavity between studs or joists acts like a drum, making noise louder because it amplifies sounds and vibrations. Footsteps create impact noises that travel through floors because wood is rigid and carries vibration. We add dense insulation and isolation layers to stop noise from moving through your structure.

Can you soundproof a condo without breaking rules?

Yes, as long as the condo board approves and we follow condo guidelines. Great for bedrooms, home offices, and noisy neighbours.

What is the best way to block bass noise?

Bass noise needs heavy layers and isolation to stop vibration. We design assemblies using vibration isolation systems to reduce rumbling and shaking caused by musical instruments, home theatre surround sound systems, etc.

All low frequencies below 125 Hz are bass sounds; they act as impact noises and create structure-borne noise.

How much does soundproofing cost in the Greater Toronto Area GTA?

Costs vary based on room size and noise type, because our recommended assemblies change based on noise types and sound barrier level goals of the project. Each project has its own unique noise concerns, so we don’t use the same old cookie-cutter methods as others do. We provide proper acoustical consultation for each one.

Our service begins at $2,900 for smaller projects. Having a phone consultation can give you an idea about your options, your project cost, how far you want to go with your sound barrier that is within your budget. Serving the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area.

What’s the difference between soundproofing and acoustic panels?

Soundproofing and acoustic panels do two completely different jobs. Soundproofing stops noise from passing through walls, ceilings, and floors by adding mass, sealing gaps, and isolating surfaces. This keeps unwanted sounds from entering or leaving a room.

Acoustic panels do not block noise at all. Their job is to make a room sound better on the inside by reducing echo and improving clarity. They absorb reflections but do nothing to stop neighbours from hearing you, or you hearing them.

We offer both, plus a wide variety of acoustic product installations.

How long does soundproofing take?

Our Tier #1 usually takes 1–2 days. Assembling a more advanced soundproofing system will take more time, and the length of these projects varies depending on their complexity.

Do you soundproof clinics, offices, and studios?

Yes. We install privacy and noise-control systems for clinics, studios, offices, and more. We can often achieve significant noise reduction within a day with minimal downtime for your business.

How do I start a soundproofing project with you?

Book a phone consultation and tell us your noise issue, project details, and location. We review the problem, explain your options, and give a clear plan with pricing. Serving the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area.
