Commercial Acoustic Insulation in Toronto & the GTHA
COMMERCIAL ACOUSTIC INSULATIONAcoustic insulation for commercial walls, ceilings and interior assemblies using dense-fill cellulose and mineral wool selected around the requirements of the project. From new construction to occupied-space retrofits, Inaudible combines insulation expertise with a deeper understanding of how sound moves through the complete building assembly.

The Right Insulation Depends on What the Wall Has to Do
Commercial insulation is not simply about filling an empty cavity.
A partition may need to manage heat, fire, sound — or several requirements at once. Material selection, density, cavity coverage and the surrounding wall or ceiling construction all influence the finished assembly.
Inaudible approaches insulation with those requirements in mind, selecting the solution around the space rather than applying one material to every project.
COMMERCIAL insulation SERVICES
Commercial Insulation Solutions for Walls & Ceilings
Our insulation scope supports commercial fit-outs, renovations, new construction and acoustic upgrades throughout the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area.
Dense-Fill Cellulose
High-density cellulose fills the wall cavity continuously, helping control airborne sound while providing thermal performance and fire-resistant characteristics.
Interior Partition Insulation
Cavity insulation for offices, meeting rooms, clinics, tenant separations and other interior partitions where privacy and noise control matter.
Mineral Wool Insulation
Acoustic mineral wool batts installed where specified or best suited to the assembly, including commercial partitions, demising walls and sound-sensitive spaces.
Wall & Ceiling Acoustic Assemblies
Insulation coordinated with drywall, isolation components, sealants and other sound-control measures where the project requires more than conventional cavity treatment.
Closed-Wall Retrofits
Existing drywall does not always need to come down. Where the assembly allows it, cellulose can be dense-filled into enclosed cavities through small installation ports.
Open-Cavity Installation
Insulation installed before drywall during construction or renovation, coordinated with the framing, services and specified wall assembly.
A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO THE CAVITY
Why We Use Dense-Fill Cellulose for Sound Control
Fibrous insulation helps control sound by dissipating acoustic energy inside the cavity. For that to work effectively, coverage matters.
Dense-fill cellulose is installed under pressure to create continuous cavity coverage, reaching around irregularities and reducing the gaps that can be left by more rigid insulation formats.
For Inaudible, that makes cellulose particularly valuable where sound isolation and full-cavity coverage are priorities — including both new construction and retrofit applications.
Dense Cavity Coverage
Cellulose conforms to the available cavity instead of relying on individually fitted pieces of insulation.
Proven Acoustic Performance
Tested wall assemblies using dense-pack cellulose demonstrate meaningful improvements in airborne sound isolation.
Retrofit Capability
Existing enclosed walls can often be treated without removing the drywall, making acoustic upgrades possible with significantly less demolition.
CELLULOSE VS. MINERAL WOOL
DIFFERENT ASSEMBLIES CALL FOR DIFFERENT INSULATION
There isn’t one acoustic insulation product that belongs in every commercial wall.
Inaudible works with both dense-pack cellulose and mineral wool batts, selecting the material according to the construction, project specifications and acoustic requirements.
Dense-Packed Cellulose
Dense-fill cellulose creates continuous cavity coverage, making it a strong choice where acoustic performance, cavity density and retrofit installation are priorities.
Best suited for:
Existing wall retrofits, irregular cavities and assemblies where continuous fill is important.
Mineral Wool Batts
Mineral wool is well suited to open commercial wall cavities and assemblies where batt insulation is specified or preferred.
Best suited for:
New construction, open framing and specified commercial wall assemblies.
Thermal Performance and Acoustic Performance Are Not the Same Thing
Spray foam can be an effective thermal and air-sealing product. That doesn’t automatically make it the best cavity material for sound isolation. When acoustics are the priority, Inaudible generally favours fibrous insulation systems such as dense-fill cellulose or mineral wool that are selected as part of the complete wall or ceiling assembly.
In NRC Canada testing of specific wood-frame wall assemblies, replacing glass-fibre insulation with spray foam reduced direct sound isolation by approximately 4–6 STC points. (1)
For acoustic projects, we choose insulation for the sound-control objective — not simply the highest thermal R-value.

Where Commercial Acoustic Insulation Matters
Offices & Boardrooms
Insulated partitions supporting better speech privacy between meeting rooms, private offices and surrounding work areas.
Clinics & Consultation Rooms
Wall and ceiling cavities treated where conversations and activity between adjoining rooms need greater separation.
Demising & Tenant Walls
Acoustic insulation incorporated into partitions separating tenants, suites and different commercial occupancies.
Hospitality & Guest Spaces
Insulation for walls and ceilings where adjoining rooms, corridors or shared spaces create unwanted noise transfer.
Studios & Media Rooms
Cavity treatment incorporated into higher-performing wall and ceiling assemblies where sound control is central to the room’s use.
Renovations & Acoustic Retrofits
Existing commercial partitions upgraded where empty or poorly insulated cavities are contributing to unwanted sound transfer.
INSULATION IS ONE PART OF THE SYSTEM
Filling the Cavity Doesn’t Soundproof the Wall by Itself
Acoustic insulation controls energy within the cavity, but sound can still travel through drywall, framing, junctions, penetrations and surrounding building elements.
For higher-performance spaces, the insulation may need to work alongside additional mass, decoupling, perimeter sealing and careful treatment of flanking paths.
Because Inaudible works across these related scopes, we can consider how the insulation fits into the complete acoustic assembly instead of treating it as an isolated product.
Framing
The wall configuration establishes the cavity and structural path the insulation will occupy.
Drywall & Isolation
Board layers and isolation methods help control the sound energy that continues through the assembly.
Sealing & Junctions
Perimeters, penetrations and transitions can undermine an otherwise strong wall if they are overlooked.

Commercial Acoustic Insulation FAQs
What is the best insulation for soundproofing commercial walls?
There is no single best material for every wall, but if you are looking strictly at Sound transmission class (STC) ratings cellulose does outperform compared to other comparable acoustic insulations. Dense-fill cellulose and mineral wool can both perform well acoustically, but the appropriate choice depends on the cavity, framing, drywall and complete wall design.
Does Inaudible install cellulose insulation in commercial buildings?
Yes. Dense-fill cellulose can be used in appropriate commercial wall and ceiling applications for both new construction and retrofit sound-control projects.
Can you add acoustic insulation without removing the drywall?
In many compatible enclosed wall cavities, yes. Dense-fill cellulose can be installed through small access ports without removing the existing drywall. This is especially great when you’re working on projects where certain walls or ceilings aren’t being demolished, but you still want to improve and upgrade them.
Do you install mineral wool insulation?
Yes. We install mineral wool where it is specified or appropriate for the commercial wall or ceiling assembly.
Does spray foam provide good soundproofing?
Spray foam can provide strong thermal and air-sealing performance, but those properties do not automatically translate into better sound isolation. Where acoustics are the priority, Inaudible generally recommends insulation and assemblies selected specifically for sound control. NRC Canada testing has demonstrated lower direct STC performance with spray foam than glass-fibre insulation in certain tested wall assemblies. NRC Publications Archive
Is acoustic insulation enough to soundproof a room?
Not necessarily. Insulation addresses sound energy within the cavity, while drywall mass, framing connections, decoupling, penetrations, perimeter sealing and flanking paths can also affect the result.
Can we send architectural drawings for pricing?
Yes. Builders, general contractors and design teams can submit available drawings and project information with their commercial inquiry.
